This past weekend I took a break from ISM to pursue a club interest with the Youth and Government state conference in Austin this past weekend. I participated as a legislator and worked to argue, debate, and pass bills in the Texas House of Representatives. This was an incredible opportunity for me to learn about the legislative process and gain experience in a field of government that interests me as I feel this ties nicely to law. Additionally, there was a judicial section and mock trial competition with the club. While Frisco does not offer these, it made me think about what opportunities I can look to pursue to gain exposure into the field.
In terms of ISM work, I am still brainstorming ideas for a possible final product. I am thinking about possibly writing a brief for a court case but we will see where that takes me. I could also possibly write an appeal on a case. I am trying to come up with ideas that are reflective of my learning while also reasonably understandable to others.
Goals for the coming week
This coming week I plan to prepare for the Gallery Walk we have on Friday. This will be an opportunity to share what we have learned so far and the work we have produced with our peers and teachers. This is a preparatory activity for the Showcase night that we have in two weeks with our parents, mentors, and other professionals. This is an opportunity to reflect on the work I have done in the first semester and connect it to my plan for this coming semester.
